And the list goes on...

Perfect light; perfect moment...it was at the end of our shoot, and the pose just worked. Love the way the light is shining through her hair.

I like the severe angle on this one, and I love the light on her face and in her eyes - great catchlights.

I don't normally do a lot of shots like this, but for her, a butterfly fairy just worked perfectly, and it ended up being my fave from the shoot.

I really like the texture here. It gives the photo an urban, seventies kind of feel.

Is this bride gorgeous or what?! This is probably my favorite wedding shot of the 'traditional' posed kind. I love the tones and light.

Doesn't she look like she could be a kid from any of the last three decades? Pure happiness and joy.

She was done with this shoot, and she was letting me know it! But, I love the emotion I caught in her eyes, and I really like this conversion of black and white.

I love everything about this shot, but the pure joy on C's face as she receives a smooch from her cousin in priceless. LOVE it.

This little guy wanted nothing to do with me or my stinkin' camera, but mom and dad got him to lighten up with the ole' swing'em by the arms trick. I caught a genuine, real moment of emotion here.

Again, all I can think of when I see this pic is, "Happy, happy, joy, joy..." She loved jumping and twirling and spinning around, and I happened to catch the joy in action.

Keep'em Comin'

I've had a great response from posting these, so I will keep them coming indefinitely. First off, Miss OJ. I adore her expression in this one, and I like how the green makes her red suit really pop.
I like how the shadow becomes the main attraction in this shot - it's dark and mysterious, and the texture gives the photo an old world charm.
This is probably not a shot a typical bride would choose for her album, but it's one of my faves because of the light. Everything is in deep shadows except for her and her dress. The sun was shining through the trees just perfectly when I snapped this.

How much do kids love to play in water? They can't get enough of it, and this shot captures that. It's pure joy on his face, and the moment was more important than any 'perfect' photograph could ever be.

An innocent moment between siblings...no fighting, no screaming, no crying...just siblings lost in the moment of summertime. Their parents have a large print of this one hanging in their house, and I completely see why.

This was one of those captures that just kind of happened...we were walking to a new location and dad picked her up and tossed her in the air. I love how she's looking to make sure I caught the action.

Processing wise, this shot's a little 'cooler' than I normally go, but something about her eyes draws me back to this as a fave. She let loose when she was 'shielded' by her chair.
This shot would probably make it into my top five faves. Her eyes are amazing, and I love that there is no forced expression. Sometimes the most beautiful captures don't have a smile in sight.

Love the tones, love the expression, love her beauty. She looks like a painting here.

I like the contrast of her dress against the greens, and I like how she wants to be independent and walk along the fence, but first she has to check to see if Mommy and Daddy will be following her just in case.

Moving along with more favorites...

I adore this shot because it captures the perfect baby body - squishy and chewy and gorgeous! I love how the focus is completely centered on the chub and the blurry grass leads the eye into it.
I really love the bright crispness of this photo, and I love how his expression pulls you into his huge, beautiful eyes. We had perfect light for this 'porch' session.

Curious and beautiful. Look at his eyes! I love the clarity of this photo and the clean look to the conversion.

The wind caught her hair at the exact right moment and made this image a perfect silhouette shot. I love their easy demeanor, and the clouds behind them lead you to their faces.

Brand new and perfectly perfect. I love how he looks so small in his bed, and how he is perfectly centered in the shot.

I love the texture on this shot and how it adds a timeless feel to it. The texture was the only thing I did to this shot in post processing. She was gorgeous, and the light was perfect.

Love that it's just her beautiful, chubby legs in this. And I love the angle from which her legs are coming into the shot.

No photographic reason for loving this one...I just do. I love how carefree they seem.

I love the vintage feel to this photo, and I LOVE the expression on the little guy's face.

One of my favorite captures. I love how the light is shining down on him as he sleeps peacefully.

More faves...

This is probably one of my favorite photos I've ever taken...I love his happy, carefree expression, and I especially love the angle. It makes such a big difference to change your perspective sometimes....
I HEART the colors of this photo, and I think her eyes just sparkle - we had great light under a gazebo, and I took advantage of it to get good catchlights. And her smile 'ain't' bad either...

We had perfect sun-setting light for this shot...after driving around for a while to find the perfect field, we settled on this one, and I'm so glad we did. I love her eyes here, and how contemplative, yet content she seems...

Yes, his eyes really are that dark. Big, dark brown, saucers. And boy does he know how to use them. I really like the warm feel to this black and white as well...

Those of you who know me know that I am a dog freak, and I fell in love with this one. She was all over the place during the baby's shoot, but once I got serious about capturing a shot of her, she was all about it. Her eyes could tell a thousand emotions.

Okay - let's start the 'fave' pics of the year post...

I love the natural expression on S's face here...she's so relaxed, and the catchlights in her eyes are perfect.

I love the tones in this photo, and I love how she's reaching out to her daddy...

I broke the rules here and put her at the far side of the shot - looking out, but I love how it turned it. To me, it screams, "I will forever protect you." This is my favorite maternity shot I've done so far.

His expression is so genuine here - filled with wonder for everything around him. Again, check out the catchlights in his eyes - they draw you immediately to his beautiful peepers.

I'm going to go back and dig out my fave pics from 2008 - some of them will be repeats from the blog posts, but some will be different. I'd like to explain why they're my faves, from both a photography perspective as well as an emotional viewpoint. So, here we go...
Love captured. The backlighting was just a bonus.

I'm addicted to shooting weddings...

Just click on the pic to view it in it's original shape and size; blogger is cropping everything for me.

It's official - I love weddings. I love the excitement, the anticipation, the ability to be really creative...all of it. And when I get a bride and groom who want original, fun, funky shots, it makes my job even better. Jennifer and Chris were so fun - and extremely photogenic to boot, so my job was great. Everyone was so laid back, and the best part was that I knew everyone in her bridal party; I used to coach many of them in high school volleyball! Again, I had a horrible time narrowing down favorites, so I just went on a posting frenzy. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
