I'm so excited!
I had my first Senior Portraits shoot yesterday, and I'm so pleased with how they turned out. The weather was rainy, but the lighting was perfect for the outdoor shots. And I know Abby, so she was a very cooperative model. Her eyes are so fun to capture, and I think you can read her through them. It was a great day. Here a few of them...

Lost in Thought
On my way home from the ballgame last night, I got lost in thought (not abnormal to get lost; the thought part is occasional) about why I love to take photos. Someone commented to me that they could tell I was passionate about it. I'd never really thought of myself as passionate about anything, but last night, in my wandering mind, I realized that yes, I am passionate about photos.
I've always remembered past events in a photo-like slideshow. When someone thinks back about an unforgettable moment, he or she can picture that moment just as it was; perfect and complete. The colors, the emotion, the physical senses - they're all there - etched in our brains as a memory. What I love about photos is that they are a physical memory - they are a physical moment. What we remember in our heads is there to hold in our hands. And while, yes, the basics of being able to take a good photo...composition, lighting, exposure, are undoubtedly important - especially if you're being paid to know how to do so, it's the moment that is truly the reason for the photo. When families reminisce over old photos, you never hear someone say, "Oh this twenty year old photo of Uncle Ted and cousin Billy is so sweet, but the exposure is so overblown." No, instead, you see a smile creep across the face of the person holding the photo as she realizes the preciousness of having a moment between her family captured forever - even if she does have to squint to clearly see the faded photo.
That's why I'm passionate about doing this. I want families to look back in twenty years and remember a moment that I happened to be blessed enough to catch for them. Photos truly are more than images on paper. They are a physical reminder of our emotions - wonder and love, but sometimes anger and sadness. They are a representation of everything that makes us feeling beings. And I love that I get to be a part of that.
Being lost in thought really isn't that bad.

Meet Mr. Joel
This kid's eyes are AMAZING; he made it so easy to capture him! His mom and dad are pretty cute, too, and since I grew up next to his Mama, I was so excited to be able to do this for them. Here are a few I loved. Thanks, Joel, for being so stinkin' adorable! Here's the rest if you'd like to take a peek: Baby Joel

Okay...here they are!
These are a few from my first wedding. The wedding was on Saturday, and I had a blast! I knew the couple so it made it even more fun for me. The lighting was a bit scary as the ceremony was lit only by candles and a few white Christmas lights, but my flash worked out fine. Plus, it didn't hurt that the couple is GORGEOUS. They make photographing them pretty easy. Anyway, here are a few of my favorites...
And here is the rest of the gallery if you're interested: Wedding gallery

Wedding
Just finished up the proofs from my first wedding...I have to let the bride know that they are finished, and then I will post them here. I have a few from the ball park that I'm working on, too. I'll have them up in a few hours.
Stay tuned!!!

Meet Olivia Jane
Oh....that red hair....I had to fight the urge to squeeze her by gritting my teeth. She was so stinkin' cute. And her mama and daddy are so cute with her - they made the shoot so much fun! The really wonderful part about the shoot is that her Mama was my first pregnancy portrait shoot! She went into labor on the same day we did her shoot - several weeks early. But, after a lengthy NICU stay, Miss Olivia is flourishing, and couldn't be any more beautiful if she had to be.
